The Future of RFID

The RFID Conference in Perth highlighted just how far RFID technology has come over the past 30 years.

The Conference brought together leaders in  business and industry who are thinking outside of the box in respect to the benefits that can be achieved through the strategic implementation of RFID technology.

Steve Jenkins, SA State Manager, was part of the RFID in Oil & Gas Standards Workshop which has been established to assist the Oil and Gas industry to define an international standard in RFID.

A feature of the RFID Conference was the recent project by Woodside carried out at their remote site in Karratha, Western Australia.

Utilising Omni-ID’s Power 400 RFID Tag which allows local and global read-write functionality, contractors are now able to update status and direct traffic from anywhere in the world.

Due to the remote location of the site a solar powered solution was required to ensure comprehensive coverage of the Woodside facility.

According to Keith Bland, Sales Director, a renewed excitement and level of enthusiasm is evident and industry based problems are leading the way in developing new systems and strategies.

The RFID Conference was well attended and provided an informative and interactive environment that will enhance the understanding and development of RFID in industry.
